The institute was established on the 1st of August 2007. The aim of the institute is to develop and promote chemistry at the Faculty of Science of the University of South Bohemia. The main direction in research and education is a combination of chemistry with modern biological disciplines of the faculty. New interdisciplinary projects on the border with physics and mathematics are also encouraged (biophysics, chemical informatics or computational chemistry).
Another important role of the institute is a training of a future chemistry teachers for secondary schools. The quality of the education process should be rised by the contact of the students with the research and experts working in the field of their approbation.
The study of chemistry at the Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia offers students unique combination of rapidly developing chemistry, excellence in biological sciences and pleasant and friendly study atmosphere.
